Friday, April 28

After two days at TLA at the Geo Brown
Convention Center, I'm home and realizing
just how much I learned the days I worked
in the Sylvan Dell Booth.

What a supportive publisher...ready to answer
any questions, help with ideas, and encourage
me with info on school visits and presentations.

This weekend will be a bit of relaxing for me.
You just can't imagine the work involved in
a booth at an event. Days of promotion and
book sales are great, but long and tiring.
I tip my hat to all reps and publishers who
constantly travel to trade shows etc.

Next week I'll be working on my own author
visit plans and creating flyers and book order
forms.

I hope all children's writers have the chance
to enjoy this process as much as I have. It's
amazing how much there is to learn after getting
a picture book accepted for publication.

Texas Library Association

The Texas Library Association is meeting this week
in Houston. WOW! It is a big deal for librarians
and any product associated with a library.

I will be in the Sylvan Dell booth #1247 on Wednesday
and Thursday. Donna German, Senior Editor is coming
from SC and displaying the Sylvan Dell line of
educational books.

My books are shown, even though not published.
Happy Birthday to Whooo?
One Odd Day, written with Dani Sneed
My Even Day, written with Dani Sneed

Strolling down the aisles is a great way to
appreciate the writing biz and see publishers
otherwise unknown. Freebies are offered as well.

Looking forward to it.

Formatting

Well as you can see from the previous blog,
this spacing is tricky.

What I see in the preview is not what
I get for a finished blog.

I hope this one lines up much better.

Sorry for the strange layout before.
It didn't look like that on the preview!

Storytime

This past week I visited Barnes and Noble to watch a storytime session.
The CRM in charge was fantastic. She held the attention of all those kiddoes
under the age of five who were there.

She knew when to read and when to dance, when to sing and when to shhh!

As a former kindergarten teacher I know a good performance when I see one.
I hope I can do as well at author readings and presentations.

So if you haven't been around wee ones for a bit, or need a refresher in crowd
control, I encourage you to visit a storytime of your choosing.

Welcome to my blogspace!
I will be posting writing and book news for children's writers.

Please visit often and see how I am doing.

That's all for today since I want to see how this looks.
